Etching (Morning class) - with Ruth Shapiro
Etching (Afternoon class) - with Ruth Shapiro

Always a popular class, learn how to take your favorite patterns and other designs and etch them into brass or copper!

Perhaps add a monogram or even some text from a favorite book. Use this technique to make pendants, earrings, key tags, book plates, etc. This workshop will provide you with some hands-on experience, showing you exactly what tools and materials are necessary, and teaching you step-by- step how to turn plain old sheets of metal into practical and beautiful pieces. You may also walk away with a completely custom pair of earrings or a pendant!

Ruth has been etching metal for over 20 years and her etching classes are in high demand. In her class, she'll teach really easy, inexpensive, and fast methods that will allow you to take a piece or two home with you.

Ruth has been making jewelry, other art pieces and Judaica for almost 30 years. Her work is included in many private and public collections and museums, and one piece even flew with an astronaut on a space shuttle!

If you have already taken this class, you are welcomed to come for a refresher and to learn a few new techniques, or just work on your own projects.
