Please join us on May 11th at 7:30 PM in the Glorya Kaufman Community Center located at 10858 Culver Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90230. The community center is right next to the Scout House and our Lapidary Workshop.

Tina White, Earth Sciences Instructor, is scheduled to give a presentation on the Placerita Canyon, famous as the site of California’s first documented 1842 gold discovery, which contains placer gold, “Fancy Rocks” (green/white schist), and unique “white petroleum”. The area features metamorphic rocks, including schist and gneiss, as well as quartz and muscovite. Mineralization in the area includes pyrite and chalcopyrite,


The Glorya Kaufman Community Center is part of the Wende Museum and is located at 10858 Culver Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90230 next to the Scout House and our Lapidary Workshop. Park in the parking lot by the Scout House.
