IN-PERSON:

Argentina’s Other Agates

Presented by Mary Pat Weber

Please join us Monday, July 13th at 7:30 PM in the Scout House by the Lapidary Shop, 10866 Culver Blvd. Culver City, CA 90230.

Although the brightly colored Condor agate is undoubtedly the most well-known of the Argentinian agates, there are several others that collectors find highly desirable.

Argentina is only one of a few countries with a large variety of colorful agate deposits available in commercial quantities. A challenge to find, often under hazardous conditions, they are found in some of the most remote regions of this vast country. The majority of these have been discovered since the 1990s and have been mined and brought to the market by native Argentinian Luis De Los Santos.

Mary Pat Weber is a geologist and became an avid collector of the popular Condor agate shortly after they were introduced here in the United States. Since then, she has added to her collection with the “others”. This month she will introduce you to these lessor known agates and display a variety of specimens from her personal collection.
